THE FAMILY OF VINCENT WEST SMALLWOOD IN NORTHWICH AND MANCHESTER (TREE 478)

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

This is the family of Vincent West Smallwood (1854-1933, Northwich, Cheshire), grandson of Thomas and Mary Smallwood, later of Wincham and Northwich. The family has been extensively researched and documented by Debra Burgess.

Thomas Smallwood (1801 Snelson, Chelford, Cheshire) & Mary (1799/1800 Comberbach, Anderton), children including
Thomas Smallwood (1834 Congleton, Cheshire) & Emma West (d/o Simeon Levi West & Mary Ann Paine, who later emigrated to New South Wales, Australia), children including
Vincent West Smallwood (1854-1933 Northwich, Cheshire)

There are apparently some family rumours that Mary Ann Paine was not the natural daughter of William and Elizabeth Paine but a granddaughter of George IV raised by them.
