There are a variety of campaigning groups opposed to the further expansion of Heathrow, and some links and basic details are included below.

The 2M Group

Two million voices against Heathrow expansion - is an alliance of 12 local authorities concerned at the environmental impact of Heathrow expansion on their communities. The membership comprises the London Boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea , Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth, the boroughs of Slough, Spelthorne and Windsor and Maidenhead and South Bucks District Council. Their aim is to present a common voice for the 2 million people whose quality of life is affected by Heathrow. Members are not anti-Heathrow but feel passionately that the Government consistently fails to either acknowledge or assess the airport's full environmental impact.
HACAN ClearSkies The principal lobbying group which campaigns for quieter, cleaner and safer conditions for residents living under Heathrow's flight paths Its website contains details of the expansion plans, the arguments against them, and of how to participate in the current Government consultation.
Stop Heathrow Expansion A related campaigning source (which incorporates the online petition mentioned on our 'things to do' page).
No Third Runway Action Group NOTRAG, a Hillingdon based residents group.
Airportwatch The national umbrella group opposed to airport expansion also has an excellent page on Heathrow expansion, with details of what you can do to show your opposition.
Aviation Environment Federation UK-based association concerned with the environmental effects of aviation.
Friends of the Earth General environmental campaigning group, with active aviation section
Plane Stupid Another group campaigning against the continual expansion of air travel.

We are gradually building up a concise overview of the content of the various campaigning websites, and this can be found here, with links to significant research or briefing papers here.

Here are some additional links relating to the political background (see also suggestions page)

The ChiswickW4.com website describes Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly's backing of the expansion plans and links to numerous other articles describing various aspects of the plans and their potential local impact.

The website of Ealing's local MP, Andrew Slaughter, includes a description of his current views on expansion (moderately opposed) in his recent December newsletter.
The website of Chiswick’s local MP, Ann Keen, includes a survey for local residents’ views. It can be accessed here.

Both Hounslow and Ealing Councils are opposed to expansion, as is the GLA.
Details of the local ward councillors for Southfields are here, and for Chiswick Homefields and Chiswick Riverside are here.
