The Westminster rally on 25th February (earlier details below) was a great success, with a respectable contingent from Chiswick and an overall attendance of around 3,000, filling the original venue and requiring a secondary overspill meeting. Read the reports from the Evening Standard, BBC news and Yahoo news. A significant rally was organised at 7pm on the evening of 25th February at Central Hall, Westminster, to mark the end of the Government consultation on expansion plans for Heathrow. It was essential that we achieve the largest possible turnout in order to demonstrate to the Government the level of opposition to any expansion. Here is our original factsheet on the plans for the rally. While all groups opposed to expansion participated, we were particularly keen to ensure a good turnout from Chiswick, to demonstrate the height of local feelings. Chiswick area residents met at Turnham Green tube station at 6pm, with a secondary meeting point opposite Central Hall at 6.45pm for anyone travelling via a different route or coming direct from work. We also produced button badges for the occasion, so that we would be a visible group, as shown below. Caroline Morgan led a small sub-group who left early in the hope of meeting up with local MP's Andy Slaughter and Ann Keen in Central Lobby at the House of Commons ahead of the rally. Anyone interested in joining Caroline met up at Turnham Green tube station at 4.50pm, St. Stephen's entrance of the House of Commons around 5.30pm, or in Central Lobby (W4 badges were on display).
The following leaflet was the latest official update on the rally, and is also available in Word format. Stop
